Position Overview
The Accountant plays a critical role in bringing accounting functions in-house and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. During the transition, you will partner with our Director of Finance and Controller and collaborate closely with our third-party accounting firm.
Responsibilities:
Accounting & Accounting Operations
- Prepare and maintain accounting records, schedules, and ledgers.
- Coordinate the monthly close with our outsourced accounting team.
- Handle accounts receivable, including aiding in our quarterly billing process, and oversee accounts payable.
- Produce financial schedules for review by senior advisors.
- Administer the corporate spending platform.
- Document accounting policies and workflows.
- Support internal and external audits for compliance.
Financial Analysis
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process and collaborate with firm stakeholders.
- Monitor budget‑to‑actual variances and maintain accrual schedules, including mid‑quarter revenue projections.
- Assist with cash‑flow management and short‑term forecasting.
Prerequisites:
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience – 2–3 years of accounting or financial‑management experience (public‑accounting background or Big Four exposure a plus).
- Licensure – CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- Industry Knowledge – Wealth‑management experience preferred.
- Technical Skills – Proficiency with Sage Intacct, Excel, Bill.com, and corporate payment platforms.
- Competencies – Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while upholding strict confidentiality.
Other Relevant Information:
- This is a full-time, on-site position based in either Los Angeles, CA or Seattle, WA
- The position includes occasional travel to other Composition offices.
- Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience and industry standards.
